Kalimah Johnson

Kalimah Johnson is a survivor of sexual assault and began her journey of helping those in need as early as she can remember. Her mission is to find ways and means for survivors to express themselves and heal from rape and sexual abuse. Ms. Johnson graduated from Wayne State University’s School of Social Work in 1997 with a Master’s Degree specializing in mental health and community organizing. She has worked in the sexual assault and domestic violence field for over 15 years with the Michigan Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence, Detroit Police Department and Serenity Services. This experience gave her direct insight into the lack of comprehensive, culturally specific services to self-identified survivors of sexual assault. She has been motivated to provide a space for survivors to identify, explore and validate healing options that are meaningful and relevant to populations that have been silenced through the unfortunate reality of being oppressed and marginalized. She also has experience with program development and coordination of services to clients who have been victims of domestic and sexual violence. Her specific role is Founder and interim Executive Director of the SASHA CENTER.
